This aim was investigated by comparing urinary HNP (1–3) peptide levels of upper and lower Urinary tract infections (UTIs) patients to those of controls. A case- control study was conducted in Kerbala teaching Hospital during the period from December 2020 to April 2021. Fifty patients with confirmed pyelonephritis or cystitis and 40 healthy controls without UTI. Urinary level of HNP (1–3) were determined using an Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. The mean concentration of antimicrobial peptide HNP (1–3) ng/ml was 5.8988 ng/ml in pyelonephritis patients compared with cystitis patients 5.1203 ng/ml, while the concentration in patients generally was 5.385 ng/ml compared with heathy control where it was 0.9047.
Copyright 2022 Elsevier Ltd.
ABSTRACT : The systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an unexplained etiological inflammatory disorder and a chronic
systematic illness. The aim of the study was the estimation of ANA, ds- DNA, C3, C4, IL-4, IL-10, IL-18, and IL-35 in Systemic Lupus erythematosus patients in Kerbala province. Blood sample (5ml) was collected During the period from 2/October for 31/ December /2018, Using ANA ELISA, Anti-dsDNA ELISA kits, C3, C4 Radial Immunodiffusion Plate, IL-4, IL-10, IL-18 and IL- 35 ELISA kits, 50 patients diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus by female clinicians aged 10-70 years. Parameter levels were elevated; ANA, anti-dsDNA, IL-4, IL-10, IL-18 and IL-35 measured in SLE patients reflecting severity. Our results were revealed that ANA optimal values were at age group 21-30 yrs, ds-DNA optimal values at age groups 10-20 yrs and 21-30 yrs, C3, C4 increased values were at age group 61-70 yrs. In all age groups IL-4, IL-10 and IL-18 increased while IL-35 values were decreased in all age groups except age group (10-20). In conclusion, this study suggested the critical role of Interleukins (4,10,18 and 35) inactivation and the regulation of immune responses in patients suffering SLE.IL-4 and immunoregulatory IL- 10 contribute to B cell activation. IL-18 as a biomarker in distinguishing SLE in prognosis early indicator SLE development in lupus nephritis.IL-35 as biomarker detector for SLE activity. These indicators provide us renal disorder impression of SLE.
Key words : Autoimmune disease, IL-4, IL-10, IL18, IL-35, Systemic lupus erythematosus.

study, ovarian cancer cells SKOV3 were treated with galangin alone, galangin combined with Gold nanoparticles
(AuNPs) and AuNPs alone, and cytotoxic activity of these agentswas investigated using MTT viability assay. The
expression of apoptosis-related genes p53, caspase-8 was studied using Real time PCR assay. Galangin was tested at
different concentrations. AuNPs concentrations were 6.25,12.5, 25, 50 and 100 μg/ml. The study of gene expression
showed significant effects on p53, caspase8 in ovarian carcinoma cells. The results of the current study refer to galangin-
AuNPs combination is synergistic against to ovarian carcinoma to induce cytotoxicity and cell death via apoptosis, this
mechanism enhancing expression of p53, caspase-8. The effects of galangin, AuNPs,combination therapy have potential
clinicaluse in the future and could be alternative way to the conventional chemotherapy drug.

ABSTRACT : Staphylococcus epidermidis, the most frequently isolated coagulase-negative staphylococcus, is the leading
cause of infection related to implanted medical devices (IMDs). This is directly related to its capability to establish
multilayered, highly structured biofilm on artificial surfaces. At present, conventional systemic therapies using standard
antimicrobial agents represent the main strategy to treat and prevent medical device-associated infections. PCR assay
was used to detect the presence of icaA gene in the bacterial isolates, and the micro titter plate assay was used to detect
the ability for biofilm production. This study was aimed to detect the phenotypic and genotyping of virulence factors of
S.epidermidis bacteria isolated from patients with variety infections from different clinical specimens. As a result, the
biofilm production ability was strongly associated with the presence of icaA gene in the bacterial isolates.
Male infertility one of the most common health problems with psychological and social effects. This study aims to
investigate the effects of the antisperm antibodies(ASA) on the macroscopic and microscopic parameters of seminal
fluid in some infertile males. The percent of ASA type G (IgG), and (IgA) were measured on the surface of sperms,
macroscopic and microscopic examination of seminal fluid have been measured for infertile patient resorting to
Institute of Embryo Research and Infertility Treatment, Al-Nahrain University, and in the laboratories of Al-Hussain
Hospital /Kerbala. Throughout period then March to August 2011. (419)seminal fluid spaceman are collected from
infertile patient and measurement the percentage of (IgG&IgA) antisperm antibody to (38) sperm agglutination
specimen from infertile patient and comper with (12) fertile men as control group. The results were showed a
significant effect (P< 0.05) of IgG and IgA on a liquefaction time, percentage of progressive motility, sperm
agglutination, and round cells on compared with control group. These results showed a significant decrease (P<0.05)
in the percentage of rapped progressive motility (Grade A) in all groups.A significant increase (P<0.05) in sperm
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer diagnosed, and is associated with high rates of propagation and
mortality for both men and women. Aimed to analyze impact of presence of T-bet, Foxp3 and CD8 on colorectal cancer.
During the period 1/October/2013 to 1/March/2014, fifty patients with colon cancer (14 female and 36 male) (7-75) years
were taken from (Al-Hussain Hospital City/Kerbala, Digestive and Liver Disease /Education Hospital Medical City Baghdad
and Teaching Oncology Hospital /Baghdad Medical City/ Baghdad /Iraq).Immunochemical studying of T-bet, Foxp3 and
CD8 of colorectal biopsies by using DAKO Company/Denmark. There was a significant increase (p≤0.001) in the
concentration of T-bet, Foxp3 and CD8 respectively in patients male compared with female, also there was a significant
variance (p≤0.001) in the three age groups from (7-20), (21-40) and (41-75) in the levels of T-bet and CD8, whereas a
significant difference (p≤0.05) in the concentration of Foxp3 in the three age groups. This study proved functional role of Tbet,
Foxp3 and CD8 in cell-mediated immunity.
