\nSLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) was a multiple system of
\nautoimmune disorder with a broad spectrum of clinical presentations.
\n1 There is a peak age of onset among young women
\nbetween the late teens and early 40s and a female to male ratio
\nof 9:1. Ethnic groups such as those with African or Asian
\nancestry were higher at risk of developing the disorder and it
\nmay be more severe compared to Caucasian patients. Systemic
\nLupus Erythematosus (SLE) was a chronic disease that may be
\nlife-threatening when major organs are affected but more
\ncommonly results in chronic debilitating ill health. There was
\nno single cause of SLE has been identified though factors such
\nas sunlight and drugs may precipitate the condition and there
\nis a complex genetic basis.2
\nSLE was represented by immune dysregulation resulting
\nin the production of autoantibodies such as ANA, that make
\ngeneration of circulating immune complexes, and induce activation
\nof the complement system.3 A positive ANA result is
\nconsistent with SLE, and it is extremely rare for them to have a
\nnegative ANA.4 The presence of ANA in SLE patients is both a
\ndiagnostic and a prognostic marker.5
\nAntinuclear antibody (ANA) tests were usually performed
\non patients\u2019 serum with various connective tissue diseases,
\nespecially in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), for diagnostic
\nevidence, significance prognosis, and management of
\ntherapy. The higher titer level of ANA is found in active SLE
\nand the presence of these antibodies was the second most
\ncommon manifestations of SLE.
\nImmunofluorescence (IF) test was the best test of choice for
\nscreening for the presence of ANA since it detects 95\u2013100% of
\nactive SLE cases. ANA has been well documented in many different
\ndiseases status as well as in healthy relatives of SLE
\npatients. The incidence of a positive ANA has been varied with
\nin each diseases.6 Rheumatoid factors (RF) were antibodies that
\nreact with the individual\u2019s own immunoglobulin.7 These antibodies
\nwere directed against the Fc region of the IgG molecule.
\nRheumatoid Factor can be detected in the serum of the
\nmajority of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and is important
\nfor the diagnosis and prognosis of those patients with higher
\nconcentrations.8 Rheumatoid factors was not specific disease
\nthat can present in a lower frequencies in multiple other autoimmune
\ndisorders, chronic inflammation and normal individuals.9
\nC-reactive protein (CRP) was special type of protein produced
\nby liver organ has been only present during the episodes
\nof acute inflammation. The most important role of CRP was that
\nis interaction with complement system, which is one of the
\nimmunologic defense mechanisms of the body. C-reactive protein
\nwas a protein produced in the liver by the pro-inflammatory
\ncytokines tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin-6, and interleukin-
\n1B. Since CRP test was considered as general test, the
\npositive CRP test may be indicative in any number of conditions;
\ncancer, rheumatoid arthritis, tuberculosis, rheumatic fever, myocardial
\ninfarction, pneumococcal pneumonia, or SLE.10.
\nMalta fever is a bacterial disease caused by bacteria
\ninfection known as Brucella abortus.11 Serological test confirm
\nthe diagnosis when symptoms are present. Rose Bengal
\ntest was usually the serological test that was recommended
\nused for disease screening and in management of patients
\nwith finding a positive test even absence of symptoms, the
\npositive test should be discussed with other inflammatory
\ndisease or other microbe infection, because Rose Bengal test
\nis positive in 80% of patient and negative in 20% of patient.12
\nAuto immunity and brucellosis is not clear and there are very
\nlimited publications about this interaction.
