Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s Master’ Dissertation: On Experimental & Numerical Study of Flat-Plate Solar Collectors

Technical College- Musayyab, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discussed a master dissertation on an experimental and numerical study of flat-plate solar collectors by the postgraduate student, Ms. Ikhlas Abd Al-Hassan.

The dissertation aimed at increasing heat transfer to the flat-plate solar collector and raising its efficiency by absorbing the maximum amount of solar energy.

The dissertation confirmed that mass flow rates increased with increasing the thermal efficiency of the solar collector and decreasing the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the collector, as well as changing the flow tube design led to a significant increase in the heat transfer rate in the flat-plate solar collector.

The dissertation recommended studying the effect of corrugated flow tubes using new absorber plate designs on the performance of the solar collector and the effect of corrugated tubes on the performance of the flat-plate solar collector using nanofluids as an operating fluid and studying the use of different coatings for absorber plates using different flow rates on the thermal performance of the flat-plate solar collector.
