Diyala University’s Master Dissertation on Effect of Combination of Quorum Sensing Inhibitors & Intibiotics on Staphylococcus Aureus

The College of Science, University of Diyala discussed a master dissertation on the effect of a combination of quorum sensing inhibitors and antibiotics on Staphylococcus aureus in the city of Baqubah by the postgraduate student, Mr. Saad Hussein Ali.

The dissertation aimed at studying virulence factors and test susceptibility to a number of antibiotics, as well as evaluating the effect of curcumin and norfloxacin, individually and in combination, on inhibiting biofilm formation and bacterial efflux pumps.

The dissertation revealed the presence of methicillin-resistant (MRSA) and methicillin-sensitive (MSSA) strains. Experiments demonstrated that the combination of curcumin and norfloxacin enhances the effectiveness of antibiotics against resistant strains.
