College of Education, University of Samarra discussed a master dissertation on evaluating the efficiency of biological and chemical treatment of drainage water by the postgraduate student, Mr. Farouk Fouad Abdul Wahab.
The dissertation aimed at treating biologically and compare it with chemical treatment of agricultural drainage water (sewage water) thrown into the rivers in the Dujail district, using the water chamblane plant, water lentils and aluminum sulphate and the possibility of returning it and using it again to water crops or for other uses.
The dissertation highlighted the application of a phytoremediation system to treat drainage water from pollutants and heavy metals.
The dissertation reviewed a clear difference in the physical and chemical factors of water quality, as treatments T3 and T4 gave the best results over the rest of the treatments in the percentage of removal through treatment with champlain plants and water lentil plants.
The dissertation also reviewed that plant and chemical treatment methods achieved the best results in reducing turbidity values, as it decreased after treatment from 48 NTU to 10.33 NTU, with a removal rate of 78.48% for T2 chemical treatment.
