College of Education for Women, University of Kufa discussed a Ph.D. thesis on a biochemical and immunological study of people infected with the parasite Amoeba histolytica in the Holy Najaf Governorate by the postgraduate student, Ms. Sondos Wafi Ghani.
The thesis aimed at knowing the rates of infection with the parasite in Najaf Governorate and to study the effect of age groups on the epidemiology of the parasite and the effect of infection with it on the immune response by measuring the levels of immune interleukins and fatty cytokines.
The thesis highlighted that the spread of parasite infection in the G.k.jvernorate poses a serious threat to the health of the individual and society, as infections with the parasite were recorded at all ages, while the highest infection rate was in the ages of 20-30 years.
The thesis recommended conducting broader studies on the effect of parasite infection, fissures and hemorrhoids and treating patients infected with the parasite using herbs.
