Mustansiriyah University’s Ph.D. Thesis: On Effect of Ionosphere Variables on Radio Astronomical Data for High Latitudes

College of Science, Mustansiriyah University discussed Ph.D. thesis on the effect of ionosphere variables on radio astronomical data for some latitudes by the postgraduate student, Mr. Muhannad Hussein Khadhir.

The thesis aimed at investigating the relationship of ionospheric variables with solar radiation and determine the scope of ground monitoring of Jupiter’s radio signal.

The thesis reviewed ionosphere data provided by the IRI website, monitoring of Jupiter’s radio signal through NASA’s Radio Jove website and solar radiation data from other sources.

The thesis concluded that the solar wavelength that most affects the electronic density and temperatures in the F2 layer of the ionosphere is 10.5 nanometers, and that the values of 6E+11 m-3 and 300 km for the electronic density and its height represent the approximate minimum for monitoring Jupiter’s radio signal from Earth.
