College of Science, University of Diyala discussed a master dissertation on preparation of some organic compounds and studying of their biological activities by postgraduate student, Mr. Qaisar Dawoud Mansour.
The dissertation aimed at protecting phenol by a variety of acyl chloride derivatives and anhydride derivatives at different temperatures in the presence of simple auxiliary factors to obtain the corresponding ester in good quantities and rearranging the phenolic esters by means of a Fries rearrangement reaction with (5 equivalent) of Anhydrous Lewis acid (aluminum chloride) in nitromethane at low temperature.
The dissertation reviewed that 4-hydroxybenzophenone and 4-hydroxyphenylmethanone induced apoptosis via the mitochondrial intrinsic pathway 24 hours after exposure.
