College of Pharmacy, Mustansiriyah University discussed a Ph.D. thesis on therapeutic antibodies as a selective carrier for the anti-cancer drug Pemetrexed by the postgraduate student, Ms. Faten Qais Ibrahim Rashid.
The thesis aimed at preparing the chemical link between the drug Pemetrexed and antibodies in the form of needles prepared for intravenous injection to reduce the side effects of the drug Pemetrexed and deliver it to cancer cells by therapeutic antibodies.
The thesis reviewed that the lyophilized formulations have high stability of their compounds when stored for a period of 6 months at a refrigeration temperature of 6° C.
The thesis concluded that the phosphorescent fluorescence microscope preparations and Pem-PEG-AtZ, and Pem-GABA-AtZ conjugates have the ability to deliver the treatment to cancer cells and selectively bind to the protein materials secreted by cancer cells PDL antigen, which means that the prepared model in the form of intravenous injection of the drug pemetrexed linked to the antibody Atezolizumab can be an alternative to the available intravenous pemetrexed drug, which may lead to improve its therapeutic selectivity to affect cancer cells.
