During IAEA conference, Dr. Al-Aboudi Meets its President Rafael Grossi & His Excellency Reviews Programs of Technical Cooperation Agreement Between Iraq & International Agency

During a meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi, at the agency’s headquarters in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on the sidelines of its sixty-eighth general conference, the Head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi reviewed the contexts of cooperation stipulated in the technical cooperation agreement signed Iraqi sides and the Technical Cooperation Department at the International Agency for the years 2024-2029.

Dr. Al-Aboudi stressed Iraq’s keenness on supporting of the International Agency to advance peaceful atomic energy programs that serve the Iraqi people in the fields of nuclear waste treatment, radioactive waste management, nuclear medicine, agriculture and the education sector.

His Excellency highlighted the importance of implementing joint technical cooperation programs according to timings that consider the specificity and quality of scientific projects in Iraq.

Dr. Al-Aboudi demonstrated the indicators of climate change and what is related to this axis of the water and desertification file.

His Excellency expressed the hope to develop cooperation between the specialized Iraqi universities and academic institutions with the experts of the International Agency for the Development of Treatments in the agricultural and research sector and to increase the opportunities available to Iraq to develop its cadres through scholarships in the fields of nuclear engineering and nuclear physics, whether provided by the International Agency or scholarships provided by member States.
