College of Medicine / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled Investigating Serum Levels of Osteoporosis and inflammatory / anti-inflammatory Biomarkers in rheumatoid arthritis patients (with or without) type 2 diabetes before and after treatment with nano_ structural metformin”, submitted by (Shadha Jassim Hatem Jassim).
The study aims at identifying inflammatory and anti-inflammatory biomarkers for early detection of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and diagnosing to prevent development of type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and association between markers of variables related to the disease, and the use of metformin, a common drug for T2DM, is effectively delivered using hyaluronic acid- (HA) encapsulated nucleosomes, to prove potential of this approach in treatment of RA, using molecular PCR method for different factors, such as total oxidative stress state (TOS), interleukin (IL-23) and nuclear factor of activated TGF-β (TGF-β). Cytoplasmic cells (1NFATC), and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL) are evaluated in both Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) before and after treatment. The study also highlights potential of HA-coated nanoparticles (Hyaluronic acid) as an effective drug delivery system for metformin, targeting rheumatoid arthritis and type 2 diabetes derived from PBMCs. The Hyalo-Nio-met NPs nanocomposite shows desirable properties, including stability and controlled drug release. The incorporation of HA enhances targeting and therapeutic effect of these niosomes.
