About the Faculty

The college was established in 2011 to become one of the departments of the University of Karbala, including two departments: (Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences and Department of Environmental Health). Graduates obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Medical Sciences / Medical Laboratory Sciences or Environmental Health after (4) years of actual study, during which the student completes the courses of each department according to the prescribed curricula.

During their studies in the Medical Laboratory Sciences department, students are prepared to work in medical laboratories for biological and biochemical analyses to diagnose diseases that humans suffer from, using the latest scientific techniques to obtain reliable results for diagnosing and treating clinical diseases.

As for graduates of the Environmental Health department, they are trained to handle environmental problems and their health impacts on living organisms, especially humans, by diagnosing, interpreting, and addressing these issues to achieve a healthy, clean environment suitable for habitation. They also apply modern methods to prevent pollution and keep the earth safe from harm caused by humans.

The college is also advancing in equipping laboratories for various specializations. One of our primary goals at this stage is to equip the laboratories with devices, equipment, and laboratory materials. We are also serious about equipping the college with a wastewater treatment unit for laboratory waste to control biological and chemical pollution that harms human health and the general environment.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Legal and Administrative Department has approved granting our graduates the job title (Researcher) until a decision is made regarding the newly introduced titles through coordination with the Ministries of Planning and Finance.
