Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reviewed that Times Asian University Rankings announced the results of its 2024 edition, which evaluated seven hundred and thirty-nine universities according to a methodology that includes standards and indicators related to teaching, research environment and quality, international outlook and industry.
Higher Education highlighted that The ranking’s website (https://www.timeshighereducation.com/…/regional-ranking…) reviewed an increase in the index, there are thirteen competing educational institutions in Iraqi universities, compared to last year’s version, which included only eight universities.
Higher Education demonstrated that the results indicated that the Universities of Technology obtained the score (351-400), Al-Qadisiyah obtained the score (501-600), Babylon obtained the score (501-600), Diyala obtained the score (501-600), Al-Nahrain obtained the score (601+), Middle Technical obtained the score (601+), Mustansiriyah obtained the score (601+), Al-Anbar obtained the score (601+), Baghdad obtained the score (601+), Basrah obtained the score (601+), Karbala obtained the score (601+), Kufa obtained the score (601+) and Mosul obtained the score (601+).
Higher Education also reviewed that the evaluation criteria are based on seventeen indicators, distributed as following:
Teaching by (24.5%) includes teaching reputation 10%, staff to student ratio 4.5%, Ph.D. to bachelor’s ratio 2%, Ph.D. granted to faculty ratio 5.5% and institutional income 2.5%.
Research environment by (28%) includes research reputation 15%, research income 6.5% and research productivity 6.5.
Research quality by (30%) includes citation influence 7.5%, research strength 7.5%, research excellence 7.5% and research influence 7.5%.
International outlook by (7.5%) includes the percentage of international students 2.5%, the percentage of international employees 2.5% and international cooperation 2.5%.
Industry by (10%) includes industry income 5% and patents 5%.
It is worth to be mentioned that Iraq achieved 37th score in the world in the Times University Rankings for 2024 by registering Iraqi universities competing in the ranking, which evaluated 2,024 universities from 108 countries around the world.
