Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s Ph.D. Thesis: On Biomarkers for Wheat Allergy Patients

College of Health and Medical Technology-Kufa at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the validity of some biomarkers in wheat allergy patients by the postgraduate student, Ms. Riyam Ahmed Shihab.

The thesis submitted aimed at investigating the validity of (CD-38, IL-15 and microRNA-21-5p) as biomarkers in wheat allergy patients in Karbala Governorate/Iraq.

The thesis demonstrated that wheat allergy disease is more common among females by (60%) compared to males (40%), while flow cytometry technology showed that the percentage of (CD38%) in wheat allergy patients is much higher than the control group.

The thesis reviewed ELISA technology proved that the level of IL-15 and I-FABP in the blood of wheat allergy patients was much higher than in the healthy group.

The thesis confirmed the existence of new methods for developing immune and molecular biomarkers among wheat allergy patients. She also found alternative and proven methods for early diagnosis of this disease and not exposing the patient to the risks of anesthesia during the biopsy.
