University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A Thesis entitled Protection of Prisoners of Wars from Moral Violations

College of Law / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled” Protection of Prisoners of War from Moral Violations”.
Being submitted by Hussein Mahdi Rashid Al-Tamimi, the study aims at determining the extent to which the provisions of agreements governing prisoners of armed conflict are applied, highlighting the role of humanitarian organizations during armed conflicts with regard to prisoners, and showing the extent to which the conflict parties monitor implementation of provisions of international agreements regulating prisoners. It also explaining penalties that are imposed on those who violate prisoners’ rights.
The study finds out that the effects of violations against prisoners in armed conflict are not limited to material and human losses but include moral and psychological violations that affect prisoners’ psychological well-being. Furthermore, moral violations are characterized by being intangible and long-term, and their effects are felt both mentally and physically, as they affect human dignity and personal integrity.
