Technology University’s Ph.D. Thesis on Heat Transfer in Spherical-Filled Column Reactors

College of Chemical Engineering, University of Technology discussed a Ph.D. thesis on heat transfer in spherical-filled column reactors by the postgraduate student, Ms. Nesma Balasim Ahmed.

The thesis aimed at studying and calculating convection heat transfer coefficients and coolant flow in a spherical-filled reactor.

The thesis included the design of a cold-flow experimental setup to evaluate the convection heat transfer coefficients of air in a cold-flow spherical-filled unit, as well as developing heat transfer technology.

The thesis demonstrated a significant increase in heat transfer coefficients with increasing air velocity, as well as higher heat transfer coefficient values when the thermal sensor was relocated from the center toward the reactor wall.
