Introduction:
Poverty remains the greatest challenge facing the global conscience in the 21st
century. It is no longer just a lack of financial resources; it is a complex
deprivation of fundamental rights such as education, healthcare, and food security.
The Current Reality in Numbers (2025 Statistics):
The New Poverty Line: As of June 2025, the World Bank updated its standards,
adopting $3.00 per day as the international poverty line to counteract global
inflation.
Global Figures: Approximately 831 million people currently suffer from extreme
poverty, with 72% concentrated in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.
Gender Gap: Statistics indicate that women are 25% more likely to experience
poverty than men due to disparities in employment and education opportunities.
Strategic Solutions:
Sustainable Education: Completing secondary education alone could lift 420
million people out of poverty.
Economic Empowerment: Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises
(SMEs) contributes to creating 70% of new jobs in developing countries.
Social Protection: Expanding health and food safety nets to ensure a dignified life
for all.
Conclusion:
Eradicating poverty is the key to global stability. True sustainable development
cannot be achieved while one-tenth of the planet’s population lives below the
subsistence level.
